Message from the Director To Governments and Partner Agencies: As we come to the close of 2006, we look back with satisfaction at our all our efforts and our many accomplishments. All of this has been possible thanks to your support and encouragement. Our counterparts in the countries and the RUTA National Technical Units (NTUs) have been fundamental in helping us keep our work focused and outlining new projects to benefit the rural populations of Central America. That is why we have devoted this issue of our newsletter, In Touch With RUTA, to the NTUs. The individual country offices have prepared reports on their main programs, but they have actually carried out many other activities as well. We have not been disappointed by the results. This newsletter provides a sample of the many important actions and processes being carried out in the individual countries and in the region as a whole. The NTUs, the governments, the partner agencies and the people of Central America are working hard and will continue to do so in 2007. Miguel R. Gómez |
